The SF Project

Work on the SF Project has started again. I've been waking up at 6 am to go and shoot the city. Today was not very fruitful but I did get this picture. I find that the city alone is hard to shoot and I don't like it as a subject unless something unusual is happening. People that live in the city, on the streets, with tired faces and high contrasts both in character and mind, inspire me more than cold buildings.
I am searching for the strength to shoot people as they are, to interupt their lives and pull their stories from them, a journalist of photo. It is hard to do and it takes courage. This picture takes little of the previous but it says something about America, about the fences between people, dividing us. Making the people of the world feel as though they are individual. This is not true, we are one. Collectively, we are a race, separate we are grains of sand, together we are the duns watching the sunset across the ocean.
