Wise Avenues

Lee Eisenhower and I finished our short.

Wise Avenues is a short film about an average guy (Lee Eisenhower) who falls on hard times and then abruptly finds an even harder time when he is stumbled upon by a few street thugs. Then he is trapped between warring parties.

It's real short and it was done in a short amount of time. We needed a project to learn from and this was it. We had hoped to shoot a trailer for a fake feature length film contest but that didn't workout so we ended up shooting some action scenes from the movie. This is what we got when we put them together. It was decided that we would work them in to a short film that we could use as a learning tool. This was my first real attempt to direct, edit and shoot a short film with narrative principles that also had audio and a larger story line that was meant to be told quickly (6 min). Lee and I have worked on commercials together but getting this together was a learning experience and it ended great. With a low/no budget and the two of us we muscled through to come out with this piece.

I have to make a note here that Lee came through with Magic Bullet Suite so that we could get the color done. It made the movie pop the way that we had envisioned it. Thanks for that, again, Lee. I also want to thank Nate Chaszeyka for the software that he helped me with.

Thanks for all the help guys... in the credits.

We shot this on the Sony Ex-1 and the Canon 5D mark ll. Both cameras performed well but they excelled at different things so it was a good balance having them both active. Edited in FCP, Logic and Magic Bullet.
